Christmas movie review: 12 Dates of Christmas

Not to be confused with the very similar-sounding 12 Wishes of Christmas, this one debuted on ABC Family this year. And, I enjoyed 12 Dates of Christmas, which follows the formula of something like Groundhog Day, where the main character, played by Amy Smart, keeps waking up and reliving the same day over and over again. Here, Amy's character starts off trying to win back her ex-boyfriend but agreeing to a blind date with Mark-Paul Gosselaar's character. The first time she meets him she is pretty rude to him and then gets hit with the news that the ex-boyfriend is getting married. Eventually, she comes to realize that things are truly over with the ex-boyfriend, actually encouraging the ex to propose and then spending more and more time with Mark-Paul on their blind date. And then they all live happily ever after. The reason for the day reliving is never really explained but it has a sense of magic in it (which I love!) and leads to the main character making some life decisions and coming to an awareness of how things should be. It's sweet, well-acted, and a good story.
