Umm, well, after making my predictions yesterday afternoon and then watching the actual awards show last night and seeing the actual winners, I got about 9 right. 9 out of 25, or 36% correct.
That's not so bad, but I have to say that I was kicking myself a couple of times after the winners were announced because I almost got a couple more right. One trick to know is that since it's the Hollywood Foreign Press Association giving out the awards, they often reward foreigners! Which is why I chose Peter O'Toole for the Best Actor, Drama winner (he lost, though)) and why I almost chose Jeremy Irons for Best Supporting Actor on Television (and he won, too) and why I did choose Hugh Laurie from House (who did win!) and why I almost chose Ugly Betty as Best Television Show, Musical or Comedy (which won and is an international sensation with the same show airing in dozens of countries already). Ah well. The other incorrect prediction that I knew was coming was choosing Maggie Gyllenhall for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama. I KNEW Helen Mirren was going to win (she did) but I went with Maggie anyway simply because she played a character named Sherry. Yeah, I'm crazy like that.
